Who Is Rod B?

Youthful Brashness

I have always been afraid of growing up, and as my teen years came to a close, I felt as though I was being hurled further and further into a process I was not yet equipped to handle.

While I am honestly still afraid of growing up, I have begun to find some beauty in it. Over the years, I have changed in ways I could have never imagined, met people that have drastically altered the course of my life and have experienced what it means to be free. My coming of age knocked me down at times, but in those moments, I learned how to pick myself back up and grow.

“Coming of Age,” as a genre, has been incredibly important for contextualizing my lived experiences. In this project, I take quotes from films, books, and songs that helped me make sense of the changes happening around me. The images are divided into five sections that represent the different parts of my own process: end of an era, new beginnings, awake, a work in progress, and youthful brashness.
